ABOUT THE

BMW M MOTORSPORTS

PROGRAM
Founded in 1972 as BMW Motorsport GmbH, the division was created to take BMW’s road-car excellence to the racetrack, and in doing so, build a bridge between motorsport innovation and everyday performance.

From the early days, BMW M Motorsport made an immediate impact. The iconic BMW 3.0 CSL, known as the “Batmobile', captured championship glory and set a new standard for precision and agility. Over the decades, that legacy only grew stronger, with historic wins at Le Mans, Daytona, the Nürburgring 24 Hours, and countless touring-car championships around the globe. Whether it’s the legendary BMW M3 E30, the fierce BMW M4 GT3, or the cutting-edge BMW M Hybrid V8, every car wearing the M badge carries decades of knowledge forged through competition.

BMW M Motorsport stands for more than victories; it represents a relentless pursuit of progress. The technologies born on track, from engine design to lightweight materials and hybrid systems, inspire the engineering behind BMW’s high-performance road cars, ensuring that every M vehicle is a product of racing DNA.

Today, BMW M Motorsport competes across continents and categories, from IMSA in North America to the FIA World Endurance Championship in Europe, all united by one goal: to challenge limits. Its factory programs race alongside a strong global customer network, powered by initiatives like the BMW M Sports Trophy that nurture independent teams and drivers worldwide.

At its core, BMW M Motorsport is a story of passion and precision, of people and machines working together to achieve the extraordinary. It’s where performance is perfected, where innovation never rests, and where every race fuels the future of driving.
